Now a lot of people immediately think of towing a trailer when they think of a trailer hitch, but there's a lot of other things that we can do with our hitch. For instance, having a hitch will make it a lot easier for one to go on a bike ride, because we can put a bike rack in here, take some friends with us and we won't have to take up the space on the inside of our Durango. Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Dodge Durango- Video

Rob: Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Class III custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver on our 2019 Dodge Durango. Now, when you think of a trailer hitch, most people are going to think about towing a trailer, and we totally can do that with our Durango, but it's also going to allow us to put other accessories in there, like a bike rack that way we won't have to worry about cramming our bikes in the inside, or maybe we just need to make a little bit of room, we can put a cargo carrier on there. The fact that it is a Class III hitch means it's going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, we're going have the widest variety of accessories that we can use and mount up, but regardless of what accessories we do mount up, they're all going to mount to the hitch pin hole here on the side.Now our hitch is going to accept a standard 5/8 pin and clip. Now these are not included with the hitch, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to make sure your accessories are secure and anti-rattle devices to cut down all that annoying road noise when we're going down the road, from our accessories rattling inside the receiver tube. With something this heavy duty, it's going to be tough to make it completely hidden and still has that heavy duty performance.Now, the hitches maximum gross tongue weight rating, it's going to be 1,500 pounds. So, that's going to be the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch, so if you we're ever to happen to want to use this hitch with an accessory, you'd have more than enough tongue weight to do that. Now, it's not going to be too bad of an install, but it's going to give you that ability, when having a hitch, you're going to have that ability to insert any hitch accessories, ball mounts, or if you have a bike rack or a cargo carrier, for instance, it's going to give you a lot more space to be able to carry your accessories on the back of your vehicle. With this hitch, you're going to have a two inch by two inch hitch receiver, with a nice collar on the outside to give it a nice finished look. So here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed across. The cross seam is going to be hidden behind the bumper really nice and all we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out.Now it's going to be a Class II hitch which means it's going to give us that 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening and be really nice for bike racks or cargo carriers. But the way we're going to mount any of our accessories, see the hitch pin hole here on the side It is going to accept a standard 1/2" pin and clip. Now these are not included in the kit, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to make sure your accessories are secure.Our safety chain connection points going to be a loop style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. As you can see we've got plenty of room to get most size hooks on or off.As far as the weight capacity goes, our hitch is going to have a 350 pound tongue weight that's going to be the maximum downward force at the end of the receiver tube. more

Today in our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the etrailer Class-3 custom-fit trailer hitch receiver, part number: E98854.So here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. The cross-tubes are going to be hidden by the bumper really nice, and all we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. It's a Class-3 hitch, means it's going to give us a 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, which is going to be great for all kinds of accessories.The way we're going to mount all of our accessories to the hitch-pin hole here on the side, and it is going to accept a standard 1/2" pin and clip. Now these are not included in the kit, but you can pick 'em up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to make sure your accessories are safe.The safety-chain connection point can be a loop style, welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. As you can see, we're going to have plenty of room to get most sized hooks on or off.As far as weight capacity goes, our hitch is going to have a 400 lb tongue weight, along with a 4,000 lb gross trailer weight rating. Now it is designed to work with weight distribution systems as well, and that's going to bump the tongue weight up to 500 lbs, and the gross trailer weight rating up to 5,000 lbs. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Dodge Charger, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class II Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 36548.Here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it fully installed. Now it is going to hang down below the bumper and the cross tube is going to be visible. It's going to offer us an 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch receiver tube opening which means this is going to be great for bike racks or other small accessories.Now the way we're going to attach any of our accessories to the hitch pin hole here on the side and it is going to accept a standard 1/2 inch pin and clip. Now while these aren't included in our kit, you can pick them up here at etrailer.com. And as far as the safety chain connection points go, it's going to be a loop style, welded to the bottom of the receiver tube and as you can see, we're not going to have too much trouble getting most size hooks on or off and we'll have plenty of room to get those on there and not have to worry about interference with the pin and clip.As far as weight capacity goes, our hitch is going to have a 300 pound tongue weight, which is the maximum downward force at the receiver tube. It's also going to have a 3500 pound gross trailer weight rating which is the amount it can pull including the trailer and everything we have loaded on it. more

As you can see, the cross tube is going to be hidden behind the bumper, so you're really only going to be able to see the receiving tube here right off the back.It's a class three two-inch by two-inch receiver, so it's going to be great for all of your towing needs. It features hoop-style safety chain loops, and they have a nice large opening so it'll accommodate just about any size safety chain. They use the 5/8th inch hitch pin and clip, and the small hole in front of it allows it to accommodate a J pin. A J pin will slide in, and act as an anti-rattle device by pressing against whatever accessory you have in the end.It features a 675-pound tongue weight, that's the force going down on top of the receiver, and a 4,500-pound gross towing capacity, that's how much it can pull behind it. more

This is what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see, it's mostly hidden completely behind the bumper, and you're just going to be able to see the small receiver tube at the bottom.This is a class two, one and a quarter inch by one and a quarter inch receiver, so it's going to be great for bike racks, cargo carriers and very light towing. It features hoop style safety chain loops but it has a nice large opening that will accommodate just about any size safety chain. It uses a half inch hitch pin and clip.Kurt does recommend that you use a stabilization strap when hauling any non-trailer loads.It features a 350 pound tongue weight. That's the force going down on top of the receiver and a 3500 pound gross towing capacity. more

As far as recreational use goes, we found the Draw-Tite hitch that's hidden behind the fascia to be the winner here because it does offer the most ground clearance and the hitch pin hole is the furthest away from the back bumper.As far as towing goes, we found the Draw-Tite hitch which is visible underneath the bumper to be the winner here because it does support the use of weight distribution and it does have the additional mounting bracket already included on it. It's one less thing we have to worry about purchasing. more
